24.04.06 Lancaster & Morecambe College objects to Link road:

Lancaster & Morecambe College has strongly objected to the proposed Link road.

The College believes the new road would have a serious and devastating impact upon its environment. It would prevent it from delivering the extensive range of educational and community services and facilities that it does today, both during the construction phase and in the longer term.

LMC would lose much of its campus area. It would lose about half its sports pitches, which would seriously jeopardise its flourishing sports academy.

It would lose car parking, essential for its students from all over the region. Traffic would have a damaging impact on the College, especially on key educational buildings. The road would dominate the campus and seriously detract from its pleasant “green area” environment.

The College believes that the Environmental Statement has significant omissions and deficiencies, which make it extremely difficult for the College, or anyone else, to assess the full impact of the road.
