Jan 12, M. This is a scholarly work by Szarkowski which makes engaging and insightful reading. Reissued in with new digital duotones-this volume is now lookking to a new generation of readers. I think this is the 5th time I have read this cover to cover, and each time i discover something new and insightful. Please try again later. Nevertheless, I’d recommend spending time with this book.

This is an amazing book, less for the quality of the photographs Which are remarkable and marvelous! I will say that the accompanying This book was full of striking, impressive, or otherwise important photographs accompanied by a few paragraphs about why each photograph was selected to represent both the history of photography and the overall collection at the Museum of Modern Art.
Great history and facts although the author’s personal commentary was a little dated at times. That critism aside, and it jogn a minor one, this book provides a marvellous insight into the creative photogaphic process, and has no real peers.
